Exterior Update

I had high hopes of getting some work done outside today, but it was so windy so my original plans: taking down Christmas lights, will have to wait for a calmer day. I did however decide it was time to tackle an issue we'd been having: One of our exterior lights had burnt out.

Admittedly, I'd never changed one of these before, and I wasn't really sure how, but it was easy peasy! Took me less than 3 minutes, and that included the time it took to run inside and grab: a screw driver, light bulb and step ladder.

Here's how: Notice the little screws at the top of the fixture?

Simply unscrew those (making sure to hold onto the bottom of the fixture!).

Carefully put them in your jeans pocket so you do not lose them.

Your fixture will now look like this (excuse the dirt and dust, we're still living amongst construction in our neighbourhood and it's useless to try and clean everything until it's done!).

Simply unscrew the old bulb and put a new one in ( Make sure you read the label and put the appropriate wattage in your fixture, you DO NOT want to overheat and start a fire!)

When you're done, simply re-attach the bottom and tighten the screws into place.

Your finished product should be the same as before!

If not, then I can not help you, and you should NOT attempt projects like this! :)

In other news, if you haven't already been to Costco and checked out their garden centre, run there now!

It was in full swing last weekend and they have GORGEOUS plants, in really nice condition. Mind you, the latest cold, windy weather might not do so well for them....

While we were there, I picked up a beautiful hydrangea for my front porch that is keeping warm inside until it's nicer out. We also picked one up as a birthday gift for Cory's sister.

I still have a long way to go including waiting for the builder to install the stair treads, cleaning the whole thing down, finding a perfect chair, making a new wreath and getting my pots done but the weather is still a little mild, so I'm waiting until it warms up a bit!
